Leather, which is one of the most delicate fabrics, is too much sensitive and tricky to clean. We have a lot of furniture items in our homes that are developed from leather such as leather beds, leather sofas etc. The most appropriate way to clean the leather furniture is to hire professional leather cleaner, but if you are running short of budget or if there is no professional cleaner available to you then you have to do it at your own. Do not start cleaning leather furniture as your routine normal furniture because it is different and sensitive from others. Here, I have suggested some tips that will help you out in cleaning some of the top most regular sort of stains. It will save your leather furniture from damage.

Chewing gum stains:

Chewing gum requires to treatments. First of all take a bag of ice cubes and rub it over the gum, the gum will get frozen and the pull it off. It will get removed because it gets harder due to ice. If still any particles remain, use a hair dryer to give heat to the area, when it gets heated the wipe it off with cloth and gum will be removed.

Ink stains:

Ink is of the most common material which leaves stains because our children used to study and do home work while sitting on our expensive leather sofa beds. To remove these stains you again need rubbing alcohol. Take a ball of cotton and soak it in alcohol and wipe the stained area. Bear in mind that for ink stains you do not mix the alcohol in water.

Salt stains:

If your furniture gets a salt stain then use vinegar to clean it. Make a solution of water and leather that contains 1 part of water and 3 parts of vinegar. Dip a clean cloth in the mixture and clean the area by rubbing it.

Mildew stains:

If your leather furniture gets a stain of mildew, you can remove it by using a mixture of water and alcohol. Take one cup of rubbing alcohol and mix it with 1 cup of water, take a clean cloth and dip it into solution, rub it over the stained area gently, let the area dry. Hopefully the stain will be removed, if not so then repeat the process.

Soaking water:

If accidentally, a glass of water gets spilled over the leather furniture then do not try any hot source to soak it and dry it. Let it dry naturally and after that use any leather conditioner over the affected area, it will restore the softness.

Grease stains:

If your leather furniture gets stained by grease then you need to absorb the excessive grease using a clean dry cloth. After that sprinkle cornstarch or talcum powder over the area and let it work for 4-5 hours. After that wipe the powder and stain will be removed.

Blood stains:

Blood stains do not need extra effort if you remove the blood immediately. If you show carelessness then the stain will get permanent. Remove the blood instantly with a wet clean fabric piece and then let it dry naturally.

These are some of the most common stains that our leather furniture items get on routine basis. I hope these simple tips will help you out in dealing with these stains.
